    Hi

I spent today adding SSL/TLS to magichat

It seems to work ok, if you'd like to help test it out, you can get the SSL version for WIN32 here:

    http://andrew.pamment.id.au/files/MCHATSSL.ZIP

I haven't updated the source code yet for the door or the server, I'm thinking of making a seperate repo for it.

MagiChat for those who don't know is a server for InterBBS chat, similar to MIRC, but designed differently.

It uses a per User connection, so the server only has to maintain connections between actually connected users rather than idle BBS systems. It uses JSON for message passing, has basic "ROOM" support to filter messages (users in x room wont get messages for y room) and "STATUS" support so you can show if your idle or afk or whatever.

Currently the GUI client has not been updated for SSL. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother as I don't think anyone uses it anyway.

Yep you did. It's still a bit of a work in progress and I'm a newbie with OpenSSL. I think you're supposed to check the certificate matches the domain, I've not done that yet.

OK, I'm not 100% sure if my netmail is working, it should be, but I don't think
I've received any FTN netmail yet.

I'll get off my rear end and do some more testing. Just been so darn tired
    after work. LOL

Hmm, seems like you're still not logging in correctly, else it would show a notice on my server. That's not your fault, it seems to be an issue with the client and using SSL.

I may have to rework it a bit, the MOTD and help work without logging in, but you won't see or be able to send any messages.

Might have to put this on hold for a few days, hopefully I will get the RAM tomorrow, but you never know with the post, and unfortunatly I dont have tracking with this package.

I suspect the issue is cause by latency, as it works for me here locally.
Will need to investigate some more.

All good. I'll box on with other stuff. Happy to test again as needed.
