Yeah, it is actually the correct time. I am just used to seeing things dated according to my local time zone so it messes with my head.
What reader are you using that converts to UTC time to your local time?
I'm using a Claws Mail as a newsreader and JamNNTPd. Should work with Thunderbird or any other newsreader too. Unfortunately I haven't found any good
native fidonet reader for Linux.
