Well thanks to Vorlon, it looks like most of my hard work is here[...]
houseofrefuge.net.au and all the recipients at the church have been suitably impressed with the rapid conclusion getting it up. :)

It's very quick to load.
Grammar error? --> When & Where somewhere of the rainbow.
The "Studio" is impressive! Three cameras! But I worry about the
tower of pisa. LOL

I did pop you off an email for this one.... seems that Optarse..
have got port 25 blocked.... not sure what to do about that, aside
from perhaps get the powers that be to annoy them again.

The tower is actually gone... I had a theory to use a
projector on the background for a "live"/recursive
background... never got off the ground though. Screen was
a problem, and the big man made the pronouncment he wasn't
really intersted.
He's talking about replacing those 3x Handy Cams with 3 studio quality cameras. <boggle> Obviously not short of a quid. I think that'll be my cue to exit stage left. At the moment its all pooty action.. The 3 cams
at least give you a chance to find one thats having a good day and all the filters give a decent looking picture.
Do you folks have projection of some kind for song lyrics?
Not familiar with the term pooty action. Do you mean like kludge/patchwork/duct-tape action?
I don't envy the person who will be responsible for operating the
3 cameras. Usually something like that would be good with extra
pairs of eyes.
I have hoped to volunteer for certain operations of a service at my church and give it a smoother more professional look, but it seems
that "older" people have a hard time reliquishing duties to newer
(ie. younger) people. There are still too many situations
when the operators can't seem to get a recorded video to play
properly on the projection. I am quite fine to sit in the
sidelines actually - less hassle.
I did send you a email on how to work around it. Check your spam
folder... %-(
I've only seen it in use once or twice, and they don't
really quite have a handle on it for my money. The
computer driving the display has been outfitted with high
res widescreen displays and the projector is a 3:4 so the
projector is doing its best, but has horribly squashed
images.
the software, "OBS" allows you to see what each camera is
looking at and switch any of them into the live feed.
Mostly its the front camera that does the most work...
The setup they're looking at is esceedingly more
convoluted, little keypad of its own, so you select the
cam, and remotely fiddle the tilt/pan/zoom. I'm happy
enough despite its own limitations driving the current
setup.

IME a lot of people in these sorts of positions seem to wear them like a badge.
You can't look at this its mine, and feel threatened by
offers of help or taking a turn at the wheel.
Its surprising just how much stress it adds to the whole
thing. Its always nice to get to the end of the show... so
the sidelines are a good spot, if you can cope with the
foibles.
projected in my church too. But there was a setting in the
projector config that helped. The projector has it's own remote controller.
OBS looks very impressive. I only learned about it shortly before
the covid lockdown. With OBS one person can have good control.
The remote control for tilt/pan/zoom is good doesn't sound too
shabby at all.
that new people would be wonderful. The lead guy (deacon)
I was asked. But it was already a big job to process the recording
for post-production (getting rid of noises, coughs, etc) and
posting it online.

Well there's your lead... see if you can find the kid for
a run, and have a crack at it. If the audio is all that
gets fixed prior to posting, then it shouldn't be to much
extra to just post the vid.
find me. It's a simple matter copy the raw recording onto a
USB stick for transport. The know-it-alls just don't care
Nah... no one there has any enthusiasm for attending to details
and have a job well done. I haven't set foot in the church since
From my experience in helping people at churches do tech stuff, I'm not sure that "copy x onto a USB stick" is a level of technical
competence I could assume.
can find. I always thought that the "next" generation of kids would be
all over computers, far more than we were... but if anything computers seem to be merely appliances and the want to do anything much with them has evapourated.
Never ceases to amaze me. The one I'm doing now... I'm a different racial background, not a true believer... and I'm still the best they can find. her family was very involved in church. I tried getting them interested in computerizing some things, no interest at all. 20-30 churches in their circle. So let it be written, So let it be done.
Oh, actually...
Lots of kids are familiar with computers as end users. In fact, many think they like computing. They think computing is running office suites
Erm, I think these guys have been thinking about it... and COVID really forced their hand. Then when push came to shove they were sharing one AV girl amongst some number of churches as the same time, which probably leaves you in a situation you just don't care so much about whats going on/burn out. Then the GrapeVine assisted by the handbrake lighted on me.

They seem to have lost something though, which is why the computer has becom more like an appliance than a tool. We were trying to figure out how to fit computers to any job you could think of, while they've become users of off t shelf gear, on the beaten path so to speak.
I think thats the divide between being a "tech" and being a administrator/ programmer... the hardware guys vs the software guys. And a lot/most of the eggheads didn't make particularly good techs. The tech's were the guys tryi to make stuff do the things the eggheads didn't think about...
