• Error in BOT message

From Hatton@21:4/10 to All on Saturday, September 26, 2020 15:01:32
I have noticed something odd with the automated messages from WEATHERMON that get posted in th fsxBOT area.

Any time the ANSI message comes across lately, my standard message reader in Synchronet gets a command to jump back to message #784. Normally I can get around this by jumping to the next message but in this case it's the last post in the area.

Looking at it in a different reader the best I can tell is that there is some garbage after the phrase "Current Local Temp"

I don't even see that text in the ASCII version.

Is anyone else having this issue?

    Howdy,

Yeah, I noticed this the other day. It also happens when you use smbutil.

(I was thinking I had a corrupt messagebase...)

Before the bot is fixed, it would be great to have DM debug it, as it may point
    to some underlying bug...

I can't help with the Synchromesh foibles I'm afraid. But the weathermon posts are coming from me... I'll have to check which ANSI it is posting, but in theory both the ANSI/ASCII pages are identical save the color changes. If there is more text, it'll mean I'm posting the wrong ANSI file, and there is an icon moderately suited to the forecast weather attached which normally won't display for love no money out of a message base.

There definitely were some text differences.

    Here's the ASCII version:

The ANSI looks much like that when I view it through an external door message reader until you try to scroll down and it's got some strange things going on with it.

When I try to view it in the Web viewer I see this:

There definitely were some text differences.

So seeing the result there, its posting the wrong file, which has ANSI animation in it, which kills pretty much everthing. I'll have to find out whats happened to the "plain" ansi withough the icon being attached.
