You forgot 2000, ME (a.k.a Millennium Edition), Vista & 8.1.

No one wants to remember ME, not even Microsoft. and Vista...

Reminds me at my last job when management implemented a new policy that that
we always must be running the latest version of an operating system. At the time Windows 8.1 was the latest & greatest.

We were all happily chugging away on Win 7. So of course I made the case
with sticking with 7 until 10 came out, but no... "Policy dictates that we
    now run the latest version!"

I can't tell you how many times I was asked the question: "Can't I just have the old start menu back?"

I remember when 8 came out; the interface was touch-friendly, and
right about then, the systems I was ordering with touch screens went
on backorder - from 7 days out to 8 weeks. We had to scramble to find
stock, even paying more for non-touch screen systems and refurbishing
used systems more than we ever did.

I was going through 20-30 systems a week at the time.

I wonder how many Windows 8 users continued using the touch screen?
