I'm on the fence about this. While I appreciate the convenience of an all digital setup, there's something I miss about CDs.

With streaming services & digital downloads I often seem to forget about
music. At least with physical CD's there was something tangible to prompt/remind you that you paid money for something. I found that I listened to music a lot more when I had a collection of CDs.

Of course these days I mostly listen to podcasts anyway...

Or when the copyright ends at the streaming site or the cloud storage site and you cant retrieve the album. So if you buy a digital download from itunes or amazon, please download your own local copy. I ended up having that happen to ABC's Lexicon of Love II where the USA licence was gone for apple.

Ahhh back in whatever year it was, a magazine, Electronics Australia, ran an April 1st article, about a new CD player that could give 4x the throughput, it consisted of many heads and 1 quarter the size of regular CD.... only trouble was you had to cut your CD's into quarters to make it fit ;) The only know prototype was lost overboard on a fishing trip.... :)

I don't agree that they were the greatest inventions ever, but I do
not miss them because I still use them. I still have some old vinyl, too.
