    Hi all.

Well I finally had my job interview today and it felt like it went well. They said they are interviewing five folks for the web role I am chasing and it
will be two weeks to do those interviews.

I was told if it comes down to a shortlisted couple of candidates there may
be some practical test I have to do. Yipes!

I'm good with HTML for content updates etc. but have not done much with CSS in recent times as my current role does not require it. So I'm back into
w3schools trying to refresh and second guess what they 'may' call me in to
test on should it come to that.

Kinda barks, in that I had hoped the interview would be the last thing and I could relax but now I feel on a little more tenderhooks waiting to see if I
am called in again for a 'test'

if anyone can suggest some good online resources for frontend dev practice /
up skilling I'm open to ideas.

Tonight I am having a night off, it's been about 6 weeks so far of working on written then prepping for interview so I'm zonked.

It's still cold here in NZ and the flowers are starting to appear as we nudge towards spring. Blossoms are starting to come out which is nice but it still too cold :)

Our covid cases continue to rise a bit, but they all seemed linked to one
known cluster so it's not too bad at the mo. People feel anxious but there's
a sense we can keep it contained and again work to try and eliminate it from within our closed borders.. time will tell.

    Anywhoo... Hi :)

Hmm, I didn't save my last message.. not sure if I pressed the wrong button or something weird happened.

Good luck (again) with getting to the next step / getting the job (whichever is
    next)..

I spent this evening learning rust. Slowly getting there, but it's quiet a brain bender.

    Hi Avon,

Congrats on completing the first of your interview process! Does the
role you seek deal mostly with static pages, or will you have to work
with java script as well? I found https://www.datacamp.com/ to offer
quite a few helpful, free, guided classes. In addition, w3schools has
been an excellent resource for things such as flex boxes, etc.. Lastly
is https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/javascript being a great resource for javascript and I believe also CSS. If you need other links,
I have quite a few from the web development classes I recently took.
    Feel free to email.

HTML is a minicule part of web dev these days. Javascript and CSS by far
makes up the bulk of web dev these days, so I'd start slamming info for both.

Hope you had a relaxing evening/night, and good luck with the
final cut on the job! Hopefully your interview will put you so
far ahead of the pack that no "practical demos" will be
    required... :-)

Just the opposite on weather here (Florida, USA). Almost
unbearably hot/humid, but fairly normal for this time of year.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Don't worry about it too much. They may just want to observe how you
handle "new" stuff. The test may have options for you to explain what you might do next in that situation. The test may even have something they expect everyone to fail. You may shine in areas of the test that others
    will handle poorly.

CSS, php and Javascript would seem to me to be "the thing" to know.

The test may allow you to access resources to figure things out.
