• QWK vs FTN?

From Codefenix@21:4/10 to All on Friday, August 07, 2020 10:29:00
When I joined fsxNet, I was set up with QWK access, I assume because I'm running Synchronet.

Just wondering, is FTN the more desirable option? Is there any benefit to having a Fido style fsxNet address rather than doing everything via QWK?

I think both QWK and FTN work well for message areas. There are a number of file areas also that you can connect to on the FTN side if that interests you.

On QWK you poll for new messages whenever you want. With FTN you can have new mail set on hold for you to pick up whenever you want or you can have it crashed to your node.. so there may be a difference there with the time new mail is available on your BBS.

Unless you’re on a point system then you receive from your hub anytime you want.

    Hello The,

Unless you're on a point system then you receive from your hub
    anytime you want.

Even a point has the same options. It can be held for the node to pick up or crashed to the point if the node is listening for inbound mail calls.
