    Hey

Does anyone run Haiku at all?

I installed the 64 bit version this morning and ported magiterm over
(works except for password saving). A while back I ported Magicka over
but not sure if it will still run or needs some love.

Was a bit of fun, but for some reason webpositive doesn't work with my
    web interface.

Next I want to see about porting over to AROS.

I have tried to run Haiku many a times over the years but it's still so far from ready it's not even funny. I bought the hoodie and tried to support them in any way I could, as did many others, but it never felt like they made any major strides forward. Also, they where in some sort of alpha stage for years and refused to release an updated install ISO with the latest stuff on it. Instead you had to install one of the nightly builds which almost never worked.

So I gave up, which sucked because I was a big BeOS fan back in the day and love the UI and the simplicity of the platform.

I must be lucky, I installed the latest x86_64 nightly and everything
    worked out of the box.

Alright then. Now I need to download the ISO again and try it. Does the email app support IMAP yet?

I have a VM of it that I never boot.

Loved Beos back in the day.

    Hey

I've tried it every now and again in a VM, but Haiku is so far from being a daily driver it might as well be a horse and buggy made at IKEA. Hypothetically, of course.

And that's coming from someone who recently quit windows Cold Turkey. (Well, only if you don't count using WINE/PRoton as not cold turkey)

Don't get me wrong - Haiku is cool looking, but I don't really see it going anywhere.

    apam around Monday, December 16th...
Does anyone run Haiku at all?

I keep meaning to play around with it. I used BeOS back in the day when it was a thing for a while & am one of those that feel it's a shame it died. Really ahead of it's time by a lot.

I have considered playing around with one or both of these at one time or another. I actually had BeOS working on a box for quite a while. The box
quit working and Be did not want to install on any other machines I had. :(

Would if only it would do half of the stuff I need to get done ... their "release when it's done and triple checked and went through couple more times just for the sake of it." thing is one to marvel. I was pushing some buttons some time ago by asking if they would release R1 for the 20th anniversary of the project :)

Unfortunately like BeOS back in the days it seems like Haiku is not going to see tha use it should ... unfortunately.

I tried to install the latest nightly build from yesterday (2019-12-18) on my Latitude E7440 and I got a kernel panic even before the installer appeared on screen. I'm guessing it doesn't like the VT support in the CPU, or hyperthreading, or.. something. Gonna experiement some more this weekend if I can find the time.

I have a YUMI (A multiboot USB device, more or less) stick with Haiku,
Windows 7, Linux Mint 19 and Falcon 4 Boot CD on it. Haiku refuses to boot
up, with a kernel panic during boot-up - not that I was going to install it,
I just have it on there for a live CD when I'm bored.
