out how to fix it yet and it's not on the high priority list.

What I'm having trouble figuring out is why you're using a barely functional unix program like Tin to do anything with. It's 1970's technology which I can remember many years back when New Orleans had a freenet (dial-in) that linked to a unix server and utilised Tin as its newsgroup reader/responder program. It
was a PITA back then. You're using Sync for goodness sake. If you're not at the console, telnet into the darn thing and use its message editor! :) At least
it's capable of quoting correctly (albeit truncating some lines.)

If you must use the Usenet setup, get SABnzbd for Linux (also available for Windows and Mac) which is supposed to be one of the very best around. Surely it's message editor would do a better job than the 35+ year old Tin client.

    Best regards,
    Marc

the quoting problem depends on the editor being used by the writer of the message... there are three or four that come with sync... i know that one of those went through a lot of updates as they worked out the quote initials thing
and reflowing of the quotes... i don't remember its name, though... my new setup is using a different one and i think that one went through a name change as well...

anyway, i just thought i'd point out that it is the editors that have the quote
    and reflow difficiencies ;)

I like it. I've been using it since 1995. The editor is just fine, it's
called vi (or vim these days), it's just the tin config that's not creating
the quotes correctly. I'll get around to it.

yes, I'm using sync but, to be honest, I don't really care for the echo
reader as much as I do the nntp interface. I'm not saying it's not good,
again, it's what I'm used to. I've been using sbbs for just over a year,
it's really my first foray into fidonet type stuff. I've been using usenet
for 23 years so it's what I'm familiar with.

That said, I did take a usenet timeout between my ISP dropping support and starting up the BBS and did look at a few other clients that I didn't much
care for. Since you recommend SABnzbd, I'll take a look at it. It does sound familiar so I may have tried and rejected it in the past.

One final benefit to using tin for me, I'm very familiar with it and the keyboard shortcuts, if I want to delete or change something, it's much
quicker than grabbing for a mouse and cutting & pasting. Just for you, I
fixed the single letter quote line in 2 seconds this one time ;)

just wait till he gets to quoting both of us and trying to figure out if "ML" is you or me  that's one reason why i use all lower case and hope that others' quoters won't force all upper case as some still do...

then we get situations like this and i adjust the quotes as above to make it clear who wrote what... heck, our standard BBS quoting form is also a lot different than a lot of old-school stuff uses...

we've also got a mark ligon (1:3634/29) trying to come online... MLs all around! hahaha
