    Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I was contacted by a member of zone 2 who wanted me to ask you a question in the election echo. This one to be exact...

    ***************************************************************************** In the past an attempt at changing P4 almost made it.

    What would be your position if the matter becomes tabled again? How would you cooperate ... or not? Why? *****************************************************************************

    PLEASE, if this question, or a similarly worded one, is asked in Z1_ELECTION no
    matter who asks ignore it! It is an attempt by Z2 to stick their noses where it doesn't belong.

    Sorry All,

    That was intended to be private NetMail to the candidates. But since it is public now, be aware that you MAY be contacted by someone in Z2 trying to get their 2 cents in.

    Lets keep this echo for topics related to the election and not muddy it up with
    this topic.

    Actually, it's not a terrible question but in that format, it isnt answerable. Or rather, the answer would be totally dependent on what the change was.

    If i recall right, the one that almost passed was a no brainer to loosen up something about the address of the Fidonews Editor. Change was to simply say 'a zone independent number' or something like that. There were a couple of other suggestions revolving around the IC position.

    It's ok Fred.

    I don't percieve the question as other than smething the Z2 member thought we may want to discuss but it's too open ended.

    I would phrase it differently. 'If we could change P4, what parts do you think should be looked at for a community review?'.

    Since I'm not running, I can only say th answers would be interesting, but not really that critical other than to see a thought process.

    An example of mine would be to look at ZMH a little deeper. It could be we'd all be a bit healthier if there was more left up to the zone coordinator. While the ZC sets the hour for their own zone, they don't have a finer level tune tool to set one for a region within their zone. THey have only the ability to set a TXY additional set 'per the strict rules'. This one isn't much of a concern in Z1 (bit awkward for Hawaii) but in former Z6 and current Z2, it is. Former Z6 fixed it by centering ZMH over where the actual remaining nodes were actually living at (hence matched Z3 ZMH). WE don't need super high tech to create a special flag (we already have one). Just a little wordsmithing and RC50 could fly a TXY flag that all the Zone nodelists add to the footer as 'ZMH R50 Observed time'.

    BTW, I could use the timeline and directions again. Sorry, lost my mom on the 22nd and understandably kinda got off track on where we are.

    that's what it started to be but then other things were attempted to be added as well... i still have the files for it all here...

    ----->8 snip 8<-----
    altered sections:
    1.1 paragraph 1
    1.3.1 complete
    8 complete
    index complete
    ----->8 snip 8<-----

    there were two postings of the proposal... one with only sections 1.1 and 1.3.1
    changed... that was the quick simple change that everyone should have been considering BUT since there was more, other presentations had to be made with the additional changes... those changes were in section 8 and the index needed to be adjusted, too... apparently some of the RCs at that time were still using
    old software that could not handle messages over a certain size... also some were apparently sorting the messages as they arrived to the parts were stored out of sequence... all in all, enough RCs were confused and decided not to participate... other RCs were goaded into participating and threatened with removal of their *C hat...

    all in all, if only the one change had been worked with, things would likely have worked out and the new policy would have been presented to the network for
    the members to decide but since another whole section was also attempted, well...

    No need to apologize, I think it was well intended & well worded.

    Z1 Election diiscussions should occur inside the Z1 Election echo. Any conversations/discussions not in this echo should be considered unofficial.

    Lets keep this echo for topics related to the election and not muddy
    it up with this topic.
    As noone here would consider cross-posting into other echos, Z1 Election topics
    should be restricted to this echo.

    I know who that is. That person is pissed because we told Z2 to take EP1 and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. That same person just needs to go away because no matter what they do, they have no bearing on Z1 even if their over-inflated ego says they do. :D
