    Areas affected...Portions of eastern CO/WY...western NE...the
    Dakotas...and far northwestern MN

    Concerning...Blizzard

    Valid 132326Z - 140530Z

SUMMARY...Ongoing moderate to heavy snow with blizzard conditions
will spread northeastward from eastern CO/WY and western NE into the
Dakotas and far northwestern MN this evening.

DISCUSSION...23Z analysis shows a 975 mb surface low over western
KS. A very strong surface pressure gradient exists across much of
the central and northern Plains this evening, with many locations in northeastern CO, eastern WY, and western NE observing sustained north-northeasterly winds of 30-45 mph, with occasional gusts to
50-65 mph. A band of moderate to heavy snow associated with
pronounced large-scale ascent and mid-level frontogenesis to the
north of an upper low over the central Plains will shift
northeastward this evening across the Dakotas. Snowfall rates within
the band should often exceed 1 inch per hour, which combined with
the very strong low-level winds and visibilities at/below 1/4 of a
mile, will likely result in blizzard conditions. A gradual reduction
in snowfall rates will occur across northeastern CO, eastern WY, and
western NE through about 03Z (9 pm MDT) as both the upper low and
surface cyclone shift northeastward across KS/NE.
