    Mesoscale Discussion 0137
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
    0744 PM CST Sat Mar 02 2019

Areas affected...Portions of Eastern Colorado and far Western Kansas

    Concerning...Heavy snow

    Valid 030144Z - 030545Z

SUMMARY...Moderate to heavy snow continues to develop across the
region, with localized 1 inch per hour snowfall rates possible
    through the evening.

DISCUSSION...Regional radar shows widespread snow developing along
the front range, with a few pronounced snowbands extending eastward
along/near the I-70 corridor and heavy snow now being reported in a
few locations. This trend is anticipated to continue through the
remainder of the evening as a mid-level short-wave trough quickly
progresses through the region. Strong frontogenetical forcing
associated with this feature is evident, and will continue to
provide deep-layer forcing for ascent and progressive moistening of
the mid-levels. This process should allow for localized saturated
conditions throughout the dendritic growth zone, helping to enhance
snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour, especially through the 03z-04z
time frame within the localized snowbands that are evident across
east-central Colorado, and additional snowbands that are anticipated
to develop (as indicated in the latest HRRR/RAP guidance) across
    portions of southeast Colorado.
