    SUMMARY...Freezing rain rates are forecast to range from 0.05-0.10
    inch per 3 hours over the lower OH Valley to approaching 0.05 inch
    per 3 hours over central MO.

    DISCUSSION...Radar mosaic shows a precipitation shield over the
    lower OH Valley moving to the east-northeast within a broad zone of
    low-level warm air advection. Surface observations over southeast
    MO have yielded hourly freezing rain rates 0.05-0.10 inches per 3
    hours. Expecting the precipitation rate to continue in areas
    farther northeast into south-central IL and into southwest and
    southern IN. Forecast soundings indicate surface temperatures are
    forecast to warm to near freezing by mid-late morning (initially
    near the OH River) with the freezing rain threat ceasing from south
    to north.

    Farther west, the westward extension of the larger moisture plume
    over the MS Valley has been associated with showers developing over west-central into central MO. It seems there will probably be a
    shorter duration (1-3 hour window) of freezing rain rates with
    totals approaching 0.05 inches per 3 hours over the I-70 corridor
    near and west of St. Louis through much of central MO during the
    next 3-4 hours.
