Areas affected...southern Indiana... far southern Illinois... far
northwestern Kentucky
Concerning...Heavy snow
Valid 200021Z - 200315Z
SUMMARY...A transition to moderate/heavy snow continues to occur
across the region as the deformation band progresses eastward.
DISCUSSION...Regional radar shows a large deformation snowband over
portions of central Indiana into far southern Illinois/western
Kentucky. This snowband is situated on the northwest side of a
surface low located over south-central Kentucky. Some persistent
localized enhancement of snowfall is occurring over southern
Indiana, and this trend should continue, particularly for areas
along/near the rain/snow transition line. The deformation zone is
expected to continue progressing eastward as the low moves
east-northeast and continues to deepen. As this process unfolds,
moderate to heavy snow will occur, with 1-2 inch snowfall rates
likely.
