SUMMARY...Light to moderate snow has started across northwestern
Iowa. Expect these snowfall rates to increase to 1 to 2 inches per
hour between now and 18Z.

DISCUSSION...Deep lift north of a strong surface low has cooled the
column sufficiently for snow across much of northwest Iowa.
Continued strong lift and east/northeasterly 850 winds should keep
the column sufficiently cool for precipitation to remain all snow
through the afternoon. Expect snowfall rates to increase to 1 to 2
inches per hour by 18Z as low-level frontogenesis strengthens and
the column continues to cool. This band of heavy snow is expected to
wind down between 20 and 21Z as the band lifts north, but additional
snowfall is expected to develop in this area later this afternoon
and this evening as the dry slot fills in and additional
precipitation develops.
