Concerning...Heavy snow

SUMMARY...An intense snow band will continue to produce
near-whiteout conditions for the next 1-2 hours as it moves
southward.

DISCUSSION...At 03Z, an intense snow band is moving southward across
far southeast WY and adjacent portions of north-central CO and the
NE Panhandle. Heavy snow and wind gusts in excess of 40 kt have
recently been observed with this band at Laramie and Cheyenne. This
band is coincident with a powerful shortwave trough and attendant
southward moving cold front, and near-whiteout conditions may
persist with this band for at least the next 1-2 hours. Some
realignment and/or redevelopment of this band may occur later this
evening over northeast CO into southwest NE due to orographic
effects and continued southeast movement of the primary shortwave
trough and surface cold front, with the threat of at least transient
whiteout conditions persisting.
