Mesoscale Discussion 1569

Areas affected...southeast Virginia through southern Maryland
Concerning...Tornado Watch 409...
Valid 120002Z - 120100Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 409 continues.
SUMMARY...The threat for isolated tornadoes will persist through
eastern VA and possibly into southern MD through about 03Z. Current
tornado watch is scheduled to expire at 01Z, but a local extension
for a couple of hours from eastern VA and into southern MD will
probably be needed.
DISCUSSION...The outer convective rainbands of Michael will continue
developing through the remainder of eastern VA this evening. Largest
0-1 km hodographs accompanying the attendant low-level jet will
remain confined to eastern VA and possibly as far north as southern
MD. The tornado threat appears to be ending across eastern NC as
low-level winds veer and dryer air aloft is entrained into the
southern periphery of the circulation.
