    Concerning...Tornado Watch 377...

    The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 377 continues.

    SUMMARY...A tornado and wind damage threat will continue into the
    mid evening across southern North Carolina. A new weather watch will
    need to be considered toward the 11 pm EDT expiration of the current
    tornado watch.

    DISCUSSION...The National Hurricane Center has the center of
    Tropical Storm Florence 40 miles to the north-northwest of
    Charleston, South Carolina. A solid rainshield extends from just
    north of the center northward across must of North Carolina. Two
    distinct bands with stronger convection are located near Wilmington,
    North Carolina. These bands extend offshore and are composed of more
    discrete convective elements. The WSR-88D VWP at Raleigh, North
    Carolina seems to be representative of the shear environment and has
    0-1 km storm relative helicity of around 450 m2/s2. For this reason,
    a tornado threat will likely continue with rotating cells embedded
    in the rainbands of Florence. Wind damage will also be possible.
