    Mesoscale Discussion 1428
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
    1012 PM CDT Tue Sep 04 2018

Areas affected...Coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle

    Concerning...Tornado Watch 369...

    Valid 050312Z - 050515Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 369 continues.

SUMMARY...The tornado threat continues across WW 369.

DISCUSSION...Tropical Storm Gordon continues its northwestward trek,
with landfall near the Mississippi/Alabama border. Low-level flow
east of the center of Gordon has veered slightly to an
east-southeast direction, allowing for a slightly more unstable
airmass (characterized by 73-75F dewpoints and 1000-1500 J/kg
MUCAPE) to advect inland especially near coastal areas. This has
coincided with a recent uptick in convection across portions of
Baldwin (AL), Escambia (FL), and Santa Rosa (FL) counties. Abundant
low-level shear has fostered occasional, yet transient rotation in a
few of the cells, and a tornado was observed near NSE in the past
half hour. Much of the tornado threat will be concentrated in this
region in the near-term, and this threat may continue to advance
farther inland/northwestward to include Mobile County, AL over the
    next 1-2 hours as well.
