The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 346
continues.

SUMMARY...Severe weather threat continues across much of WW 346.
The northwest counties within this watch may be canceled early, as
surface winds have begun to veer, though trends will be monitored.

DISCUSSION...Mid-late afternoon surface analysis showed a lead wind
shift had advanced into extreme western PA with surface winds west
of this boundary veering to the southwest and west, limiting
low-level convergence. East of this boundary, greater moisture
remains along with stronger instability (MLCAPE up to 1500-2000
J/kg). This combined with effective bulk shear of 35-40 kt and
surface-1 km shear of 20-25 kt suggest strong wind gusts and a
tornado threat persist into the early evening, especially from
southern PA southward.
