Concerning...Tornado Watch 315...

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 315 continues.

SUMMARY...Strong/severe storms will continue to build south into
western Kansas, as well as east across Colorado, through this
evening, with an attendant threat of severe winds, large hail, and a
couple tornadoes. A new watch will eventually be needed south of
ongoing Watch 315.

DISCUSSION...In areas that have recovered following early-day
outflow, two small bowing storms are progressing southeast around 40
kt over far northeast CO/southwest NE/northwest KS this afternoon.
Further strengthening and upscale growth (with embedded supercells)
is probable through late afternoon, given movement into a more
buoyant low-level air mass. Multiple severe wind gusts and large
hail would be the primary threats with these cells. To the west,
further development may occur on both an outflow boundary over
northeast Colorado and with convection building east from higher
terrain into strengthening south/southeasterly low-level flow this
evening. In addition to the wind and hail threat with these cells,
elongating hodographs may support a couple tornadoes in any embedded supercells, primarily over western Kansas. The southeastward
development of the entire severe threat will eventually require a
new watch south of Watch 315.
