Areas affected...southwest Kansas and southeast Colorado
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 311...
Valid 270253Z - 270500Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 311
continues.
SUMMARY...A few severe storms continue moving southward across WW
311.
DISCUSSION...The latest radar loop shows two small bands of vigorous
convection moving southward across the southwest Kansas vicinity.
With a northerly wind component through a good portion of the lower troposphere, expect continued southward storm movement. However,
with greater CAPE confined to areas of west-central Kansas and
weaker instability/stronger capping indicated over southwest Kansas
and into the Oklahoma Panhandle, the primary/lingering severe risk
should remain confined to west-central Kansas. While storms near
the southern edge of the watch -- i.e. over Hamilton and Kearney
Counties in Kansas -- may bring gusty winds to areas just south of
the watch, threat should remain generally confined to the watch, and
should diminish gradually through the evening hours.
