    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 308...

    The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 308
    continues.

    SUMMARY...The threat of large hail and damaging winds persists in
    watch 308. The best chance for severe weather is in south central
    Minnesota and north central Iowa.

    DISCUSSION...Numerous storms have developed within watch 308. Most
    of these storms have struggled to maintain strength, likely due to
    limited buoyancy attributed to cloud cover across much of the
    eastern portion of the watch. Storm intensity has been greater in
    western portions of the watch where instability is greater. One
    particular storm produced hail up to 2.75 inches in southern
    Minnesota. This supercell has since weakened due to storm mergers in
    northern Iowa. However, given a similar environment ahead of this
    line of storms, the hail threat continues. In addition, these storms
    may congeal and pose an increasing wind threat through the evening.

    Further east, a loss of daytime heating, and cloud cover will limit
    any further destabilization. Current MLCAPE around 1000 J/kg and
    effective shear around 40 knots may support some strong to severe
    storms for the next few hours, but the severe threat will likely not
    be as great as further west.
