Mesoscale Discussion 1127
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0940 PM CDT Sat Jul 21 2018
Areas affected...Southwestern North Dakota...Western North
Dakota...and far northeast Wyoming.
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 301...
Valid 220240Z - 220345Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 301
continues.
SUMMARY...Storms have weakened across most of watch 301. While
occasional strong to severe storms are still possible for the next
hour or two, the general trend will continue to be downward.
DISCUSSION...A combination of lessening instability due to a cooling
boundary layer and storms shifting east of the best instability axis
across North Dakota should lead to storms continuing to weaken. With
some instability remaining across the area, a few strong to severe
storms are possible for the next hour or two, but the overall threat
will continue to wane.
