Areas affected...Southern Appalachians to Southwest GA
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 300...302...
Valid 220128Z - 220300Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 300, 302
continues.
SUMMARY...Scattered, mostly hail-producing thunderstorms, will
continue propagating southeast across the region.
DISCUSSION...Heights will be suppressed across the southern
Appalachians this evening as the primary mid-level circulation
settles into southern OH. Modest 500mb flow will be maintained
across the Southeast within the base of the trough which should
encourage a continuation of ongoing convection across WWs 300/3002.
00z soundings across this region remain supportive of robust
convection with strong deep-layer shear and MUCAPE in excess of 3000
J/kg at FFC. Primary severe threat remains hail with this activity
as it propagates across this region.
