Areas affected...Central Iowa
Concerning...Tornado Watch 219...
Valid 260025Z - 260230Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 219 continues.
SUMMARY...Storms continue in eastern/northern portions of Tornado
Watch #219. The overall threat for severe weather is trending down,
but a brief tornado is still possible. Watch unlikely to be
extended.
DISCUSSION...Current DMX radar imagery shows a cluster of storms
southwest of Des Moines, oriented northwest to southeast, and moving
to the northeast. A tornado-warned storm was recently within this
cluster, and there remains an ongoing risk for a brief tornado among
these storms as they track along the warm front where low-level
shear is enhanced. As the storms track northeast, they are moving
into a less-favorable environment characterized by lower buoyancy,
which won't rebound as daytime heating wanes. The overall threat for
severe weather is diminishing, and the watch is unlikely to be
extended.
