    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 218...

    The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 218
    continues.

    SUMMARY...The risk for strong/damaging wind gusts will persist
    across western and central portions of southern North Carolina and
    northern South Carolina into the evening, as a line of storms
    advances to the east. An isolated damaging-wind threat also
    persists across eastern parts of WW 218.

    DISCUSSION...Trends in mosaic radar imagery indicated a composite
    band of storms extending from the southwest VA/NC border through
    western NC and SC, with a few cold pools associated with this line
    of storms. Although forward motion is currently at 30 kt, which
    would suggest a limited severe threat, a very favorable
    thermodynamic environment (DCAPE up to 1300 J/kg) across the
    remainder of western/central parts of southern NC and SC should
    support an additional threat for strong to severe wind gusts, as
    storms move off the higher terrain.

    Meanwhile, storms will continue to develop across southern NC and
    northeast SC within a moderately unstable, though weakly sheared
    environment. Storm/boundary mergers across this region will likely
    locally enhance intensities, while precipitable water around 2
    inches suggest wet microbursts will be a threat with these storms.
