    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 174...

    The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 174
    continues.

    SUMMARY...Storms forming north of the supercell in Clark County, KS
    should congeal into one or two supercells this evening. These storms
    will pose a risk for large hail and damaging winds, but are expected
    to wane after dark which will likely preclude the need for a severe thunderstorm watch north of watch 174.

    DISCUSSION...In addition to the persistent supercell along the
    Oklahoma/Kansas border and a cluster of supercells northeast of
    Amarillo, storms are starting to form further north along the
    stationary front in Kansas. Given the very unstable environment and
    effective shear around 35 to 40 knots, expect the developing cells
    in Kansas to organize into one or two dominant supercells with large
    hail and damaging winds as the primary risk. This new development
    will likely wane shortly after sunset with the better organization
    relegated to areas further south within WW 174 where storms are more
    likely to congeal and the threat may persist into the early
    overnight hours. Given the short duration of the threat, a severe
    thunderstorm watch is not expected for areas north of Severe
    Thunderstorm Watch 174.
