Areas affected...Portions of central NE
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 255...
Valid 030408Z - 030515Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 255
continues.
SUMMARY...An isolated severe hail/wind threat lingers across mainly
western portions of WW 255. With the severe threat expected to
remain very isolated overnight, WW 255 will likely be allowed to
expire at 05Z as scheduled.
DISCUSSION...Recent VWP from KLNX radar shows a southerly low-level
jet of 30-45 kt is present mainly in the 0-2 km AGL layer. This is
supporting continued isolated convection across mainly western
portions of WW 255 as of 04Z. Current expectations are for an
isolated severe hail/wind risk to persist for the next hour or two
given sufficient shear and strong instability present across central
NE. Continued nocturnal cooling will act to increase convective
inhibition, and ongoing thunderstorms will become increasingly
elevated overnight. Given current radar trends, the overall severe
threat will likely remain isolated late this evening, and WW 255
will likely be allowed to expire at 05Z.
