Mesoscale Discussion 0729
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0946 PM CDT Wed Jun 13 2018
Areas affected...Eastern Pennsylvania...northern New Jersey...and
extreme southeast New York
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 140246Z - 140345Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent
SUMMARY...Cluster of strong to severe storms will continue to move
east. After collaboration with WFO PHI, it has been decided a small
weather watch will not be issued and any further threat will be
handled by local warnings.
DISCUSSION...The persistent cluster of strong storms in eastern
Pennsylvania will continue to move southeast through the early
overnight hours. This cluster has started to exhibit MCV type
characteristics in the past hour which may lead to a continued
tornado threat. In addition, the storms are moving into an
increasingly rich low-level theta-e environment with dewpoints
around 70 degrees which may also help the storms to persist. Given
the small threat area, a watch will not be issued and any further
threat will be handled by local office warnings.
