    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 228...

    The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 228
    continues.

    SUMMARY...Persistent cluster of thunderstorms continues to be
    capable of producing large hail and gusty winds. These thunderstorms
    should continue for another couple of hours before weakening. Severe Thunderstorm Watch 227 has been extended 2 hours. Severe
    Thunderstorm Watch 228 continues.

    DISCUSSION...Thunderstorms continue to develop within a warm-air
    advection regime across central and southeastern South Dakota. As
    the low-level jet begins to veer this morning, isentropic ascent
    atop residual outflow boundaries have promoted development upshear
    from the initial storms, with the strongest updrafts located in
    Lyman County. The thunderstorms are located on the southern
    periphery of a belt of deep-layer shear on the order of 35-50 knots,
    and processing CAPE values on the order of 1500-2000 J/kg. As such,
    the environment will be supportive of the large hail threat
    continuing. With time, the low-level jet should continue to veer and subsequently weaken the warm-air advection regime. As this occurs,
    an overall weakening trend is expected. Severe Thunderstorm Watch
    227 was extended in time by 2 hours and Severe Thunderstorm Watch
    228 continues to account for the threat through the morning.
