    Areas affected...Eastern Alabama...Central Georgia...Western South
    Carolina

    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 144...

    Valid 012138Z - 012345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 144
    continues.

SUMMARY...Wind damage and hail will be possible with a line of
storms over the next few hours from eastern Alabama eastward to
western South Carolina. The line is expected to affect areas to the
east and southeast of WW144 into parts of eastern Georgia and
western South Carolina. A new weather watch can not be ruled out at
    this time.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery shows a linear MCS with a
well-developed cold pool located from southeast of Birmingham, AL
eastward to just northwest of Augusta, GA. Ahead of the line,
surface dewpoints are in the lower 70s F which is contributing to
moderate instability. The strongest instability is located in
eastern Georgia where the RAP is estimating MLCAPE in the 2000 to
2500 J/kg range. This combined with steep 0-3 km lapse rates will be
favorable for wind damage along the leading edge of the MCS. The
greatest potential for wind damage is expected to be in the far
eastern part of the watch extending eastward into western South
Carolina where the strongest instability is located. However, the
line may also affect areas south of the watch where conditions also
appear favorable for isolated wind damage. Hail will also be
possible with the more intense cores within the line.
