I don't understand the question. In general, your questions and comments seem to be too vague to be understood or replied to in any meaningful way.

yes they are but a lot of work to go through 825 lines it being the biggest modifiable file in synchronet bbs alone which keeps growing every year by the way as well too. if you do it the quickie way you can have it down in about 5-10 mins but if you comb through it thoroughly it can take days because your eyesget tired of looking at those lines after awhile.

Ever use search and replace feature of a text editor? You could do a global search and replace of ^AY (yellow) with ^AM (magenta) in a few seconds. Or you could get smarter with regular expressions or common tools like sed.
In any case, you asked about a "color makeover" - how would that help sysops that want to change all the colors in the text.dat?

if you wanted sysops to do it themselves, why wasn't it just one color then? you obviously picked these certain colors for sone reason.

not only THAT, but you can replace any text string on the fly in your command shell. you dont need to edit text.dat

not only THAT, but you can replace any text string on the fly in your command shell. you dont need to edit text.dat
But if you want a consistent look, it's probably better to modify text.dat so your command shell (or multiple command shells, if you have more than one) don't have to all change those strings.

one thing is the same as the other. atleast if you do it in the command shell, you can drop in a new text.dat with minimal problems.

it's only hard if you have no ability. i created a colorized text.dat for most ansi colors using a text replacement program. took minutes.

exactly ... ;LOAD TMs-Text.dat :-/
That way you can just copy text.dat to TMs-text.dat and modify/load that file without hosing the original text.dat

Okay, a question on text.dat ... how does one access the text.dat for use in a js script? I'd like to add some custom enteries to use with the dup_user_check.js a threw together.
I do see that, say, using confirm("Delete User?); in js.global.console mode (running script via ;exec while logged onto the BBS) outputs a colorized Y/n string ...
