Granted I've only been once, but Tim the owner was friendly and let us sample a little bit of everything.
Great bark, good turkey, and pulled pork.
Served Central Tx style, on paper with white bread
Get out and support this place, cuz God knows there ain't much in the way
of GOOD Q in Dallas these days, let alone in Plano
I'd rank it up close to Pecan lodge without the 1 hour wait.
I'm particular about my pulled pork and would have to say his is pretty
damn good.
The sausage was good, he has shipped in from Taylor Tx

That is good news -- Taylor and that area, especially Elgin, are known
for excellent sausage.
Too bad it's up in southern Oklahoma. We could use a really top notch
BBQ place in the White Rock area, or even a Sonny's.

Baker's Ribs or Peggy Sues are out of business? I was never a big Sonny's
fan but they're a step up from Dickey's.

Baker's went under? They just moved to bigger quarters recently up the
road, so if they died then that was a meteoric fall. They started
doing a lot of pie business, so they needed a bigger space to service
that biz, from the DMN article I read.

Sorry, I meant to convey that both those places have pretty good BBQ
(ribs, really) and aren't all that far from White Rock. I really meant it more sarcastically than as a piece of news. Sorry to scare you.
The other reason I wrote it that way was to see if anyone thought their quality had declined. Both those places have great ribs, they're just not easy to compare as they are done differently. I never order anything but
the baby backs at Peggy Sues and the same thing applies to the ribs at Bakers. I hadn't been to Bakers in over a year though. Since Baker's has
a new place I will have to check them out.

Ah, well that may be part of the disconnect in preferences -- I don't
care for ribs, instead preferring what used to be known as the
"postman's" special -- sliced beef and sausage. And I love Sonny's
private blend of sausage.

I'm talking about REAL BBQ and you guys are talking about
Soulmans, Sonny's and Peggy Sues?
Everyone of those suck, sorry, Sonnys ain't been Sonnys
since he died. Soulmans grinds the brisket for chopped beef,
the sauce tastes like it came out of a bottle.
Peggy Sues, I've eaten at once and wasn't impressed. All of
the above I'd put on the scale with Dickeys.
Bakers Ribs I haven't tried, so i can't comment on them.
But seriously, when it comes to Q, the pickins are pretty
slim in Big D, Pecan Lodge is the very best, Lockhart
Smokehouse sucked, Off The Bone sucked, Sammys...ehh,
Macs..ehh, Red hot and blue, keep it. Mike Andersons was
good last time I went(about 2 yrs ago).
Meshacks<sp> in Garland is suppose to be good, but haven't
made it there yet. Hard Eight in Coppell is good and I'd put
it at #3 below Pecan Lodge and Dubs
YMMV
