Finally gave this place a shot. Try not to eat fast food to often but was hungry and driving by the new one in Plano so thought what the hell. From past reviews learned that you should eat there instead of too go since fry's may not be as good. Anyways order from the 3 choices they had for combos.
Got the single combo with fry's and drink. Place was a little crowded so expected a wait for food to be ready. Got my order. Burger was just like a Whataburger Jr. except for the sauce. Fry's where cut but I must of gotten the bottom of the basket since most of my fry's where bits and pieces all about 2" or less in size. Halfway through the meal the fry's were already tasting cold and old. Burger was ok but again I was thinking this a Whataburger jr with different sauce. End of the day I would not go back again. Its all hype like I thought it would be. Combo was priced to high
and could of just gone to Whataburger and go a larger burger for less money and just mixed some ketchup, mayo, mustard, and pepper if I wanted a special sauce. Yea frozen fry's there but at least they hold their own through the meal.

Sounds about right based on my one visit to the South Arlington location. I did have the chance to try them in multiple California locations a few years back and just didn't come across as anything special.

I was never impressed with them in California. I haven't bothered with
the Texas ones and probably never will. I always eat at JC's Burger House
when I want a good burger. Much better selection too.

I am all for the nostalgia thing but I assume the people who live here who
use to live in California have had other options while here and would of realized its nothing special. The only hype I ever agreed with was when Krispy Cream showed up. It was a far better product than what we had at the time as far as chain type donuts stores.

I found Krispy Kreme to be novel at first, but I got tired of them son

TI keep a 5 gallon bucket of Krispy Kreme glaze to do quick repairs around
the house, if a tile comes loose or someone puts a hole in the wall it's pretty handy.

I am all for the nostalgia thing but I assume the people who live here
who use to live in California have had other options while here and
would of realized its nothing special. The only hype I ever agreed
with was when Krispy Cream showed up. It was a far better product
than what we had at the time as far as chain type donuts stores.

Actually Krispy Kreme was a relative newcomer to SoCal. The first one
opened in San Diego in Claremont Mesa around 2000. It was a novelty but
    wore off quickly.

Burger joints in that part of the world weren't all that good either. You
were better off going to a Red Robin for a burger than In & Out though.

too go since fry's may not be as good. Anyways order from the 3
choices they had for combos. Got the single combo with fry's and
drink. Place was a little crowded so expected a wait for food to be
ready. Got my order. Burger was just like a Whataburger Jr. except
for the sauce. Fry's where cut but I must of gotten the bottom of the
basket since most of my fry's where bits and pieces all about 2" or
less in size. Halfway through the meal the fry's were already tasting
cold and old. Burger was ok but again I was thinking this a
Whataburger jr with different sauce. End of the day I would not go
back again. Its all hype like I thought it would be. Combo was
priced to high and could of just gone to Whataburger and go a larger
burger for less money and just mixed some ketchup, mayo, mustard, and
pepper if I wanted a special sauce. Yea frozen fry's there but at
least they hold their own through the meal.

I have friends from California who are absolutely mystified by my
insistance that I can get a better meal at Whataburger without standing in line. It's all nostalgia. In-n-Out is OK, but just OK. It's just a
frigging burger. At Whataburger, at least I can get a bigger, fresher-
tasting burger with jalapenos. My guess is the newness will wear off just like the Krispy Kreme others mentioned. There is one of those a couple of miles from my house. When they first opened, lines were around the block constantly. Now, you can drive up with no waiting any time of the day.

Yes, you can get kolaches at all of the standard donut outlets, but they're not the same. Czech Stop makes their own sausage, and they have so many more types than the usual suspects. Last time I heard they wre netting around 4 million a year in sales. So there are most likely a lot more people who have it as a must stop.
I'm going to have to make a run down to Austin before long to evaluate some technology at the blind training center down there, so I'll probably pick up
a dozen on the way back.

I find it interesting that in all comparisons I've heard folks compare In
and Out to Whataburger. A friend of mine, in discussing this very same topic this morning, said it was because Whataburger is the gold standard for fast food chain burgers. I can't argue with that. Whataburger also doesn't have
the disadvantage of them putting scriptures on your food.
I haven't heard if In and Out is a "fresh meat" burger company like Sonic, Wendy's, and Whataburger, though I suspect that they aren't, as that's
rather rare out in California due to logistics. (Yes, you can get fresh meat out there, but fast food places tend not to have that option, and I've been told there are a dearth of Sonic and Wendy's locations out that way)

They are. They build a processing facility here before any of
the restaurants, which is how we knew they were coming.

(For my money, Five Guys is the best burger available here. By
