Been one in Denton for a while now, a new one has opened at 380 and 75 in McKinney. Recommend the Macho Taco, slaps Taco Bell's Taco Bel Grande
around like a retarded stepchild. Shells are thin and crispy, meat is well seasoned and plentiful, wonderful grated cheese, and topped with a great tasting pico. When you get to the middle, it's a perfectly stratified
taco, not that all-too-often thrown together mishmash you get at Taco
Bell.
I don't care what Demolition Man says, Del Taco is going to eat Taco Bell alive.

Which corner? (I'm guessing not SW; that's where Taco Cabana is.)

More accurately, Del Taco has returned. We had them in these here parts back in the 80's, but they pulled out of north Texas a while back.
It's good to have an alternative to flavorless "No Bueno,"
bottom of the barrel "Toxic Hell,"
and the overpriced "Toxic Banana."
Now I just have to wait for them to get down to civilization from southern Oklahoma.

I can't describe how much better it is than Taco Bueno's tacos - which I have never, ever cared for, though I do like greatly their taco salad with their pico and hot sauce... Mexidips and Chips is pretty decent as well.
But their tacos - bleh.
bottom of the barrel "Toxic Hell,"
I actually think their Taco Bel Grande is a decent taco (and the Burrito Supreme is decent as well), though most of the rest of the food there
makes a taco truck look like the Morton's. They create menu items like a child would - let's put a taco in a taco! Lame. Their patented Food Poisoning Rollup is a clever creation (this describes half their menu).
And worst. Nachos. Ever.
and the overpriced "Toxic Banana."
Trying to remember if that's where they served me a taco salad that
actually was like a tossed salad with purple cabbage and carrots, like
that bagged supermarket salad with a leftover taco broken over it.
Now I just have to wait for them to get down to civilization from
southern
Oklahoma.
I have to think the expansion will happen soon - everything else good from California is moving here, Del Taco should be no different...

Perhaps it's because here they can make some money, while in California they're still having pretty substantial unemployment problems.
I wouldn't use the word "good" to describe all of the imports, however. Some of them are the product of spin more than substance.
What are you putting the category of "everything else" and "good" that is coming in from the left coast?
