I need someplace along the Hwy 75 corridor from Dallas to Plano
    which 1) has a private room sufficient for 20-30 people, 2) won't
charge for the use of that room on a Monday evening, and 3) has
reasonable (read: cheap) prices for dinner. This is for a dog-
    agility club's monthly meetings.

We've been using the IHOP in Allen, but some of our group live
sufficiently far south of there that they've become annoyed with
the drive. We tried the IHOP in Plano (just south of 15th Street)
last month, and received the worst possible service you could
imagine. Plus, we're getting sick of IHOP anyway....

Any suggestions? It doesn't really need to be on Hwy 75 itself,
of course; just fairly easy to find.

    Thanks!

I ate at a restaurant earlier tonight that has a room that's
large enough, doesn't charge for the room and has reasonable
prices. I'll also add that we (myself, my wife and my mother in
law) all agreed it was quite good. The only drawback is that it
is not that close to 75.

The restaurant is JD's Kabobs. The main item on the menu is
shish kebabs. The owners (I assume the man and lady we spoke
with were the owners), told us that they plan to change the name
because alot of people seem to expect Mediterranean food, which
    is not what they have.

The kebabs that they have include steak, quail, ham, chicken and
sausage. They have other dishes available including chicken
cordon blue, steak fillet and catfish. I ordered the chicken
cordon blue, my m-i-l ordered the steak kebab and my wife
ordered the fillet but they brought her the steak kebab by
    mistake.

Upon seeing the kebabs, I wished that I had ordered one too. My
m-i-l's kebab had very generous chunks of steak. It also had
three small slices of onion and no other veggies. My wife's had
what looked like a little less steak, but still enough. Hers
also had some small pieces of onion and red peppers. The veggies
on both kebabs were kind of skimpy, but personally, I wouldn't
    have eaten them anyway.

Most entrees include their veggie bar. The veggie bar is all you
can eat. It included standard salad stuff on one side and a few
other less standard items on the other. It also had a few hot
items. I got creamed corn, creamed spinach, stuffed jalapeos
and chicken and dumpling soup. All of these were quite good.

Entrees were mostly $10-$12. Soft drinks were by the can at $1
    each.

The restaurant is in Garland at the intersection of Belt Line
and Garland Road. It is located at the south west corner, behind
Burger Street, just a couple of doors down from Babe's Chicken
    House.

It received an 85 for their inspection.

Thanks for the recommendation - it sounds pretty good. I'm afraid
it's going to be too far East for us, though.

At any rate, time got short so I just reserved the IHOP room
again. I think I'm going to delegate this task - surely one of
our members can come up with something.

I have another idea for you.

A couple days ago, I walked into a local Tom Thumb that has a
Starbucks in it. There was a group of 20+ people in their
seating area. It's not very private, but using a Tom Thumb
Starbucks should only cost you a cup of coffee.
