    Hello all,

When reading a message, and click on a name in the HEADER that has an "address"
next to it, the nodelist browser pops up and provides details of the correspending entry. Very nice. But there are two right-click options:

    In das adressbuch aufnehman
    In mailboxen aufnehman

The 2nd one places the name + zon:net/node number in my list of contacts. Very handy.

But what does "mailboxen aufnehman" (mailbox pickup) actually do?

I select it, but I don't get any indication of what just happened.

Errrrrrrm, it's the first one that does that :-))

But what does "mailboxen aufnehman" (mailbox pickup) actually do?

Adds the selected system to your mailboxes.

I select it, but I don't get any indication of what just happened.

You're not looking in the right places :-)

Look in "Extras/Uplinks" and you should see a new entry in the "Systems" pane. Click the "Properties" button for the new entry and WinPoint should have filled
in most of the details for you. However, it doesn't get them all correct but it's a simple matter of editing them manually.

I'd never seen this feature before you mentioned it but, at first sight, I wondered what possible use could that be. Well, it actually answers a question I've been asking myself for a very long time - "How do I poll a Node other than
my BossNode?" - and the answer to that is revealed when I click on the Down-Arrow to the right of the "Poll" button. In other words, not only does WinPoint add a new "Mailbox", it also adds the new "Mailbox" to the list of systems to poll.

Wow, this thing just gets better and better :-))

Many thanks for finding and reporting this.

    Regards,
    Martin

SORRY.. I *did* mean to type "1st" one. When I am constructing a message, I often rearrange my sentences and paragraphs. And, in this case, after I moved things around I forgot to check if anything else needed a correction.

I'm just not used to the mono-spacing that Winpoint insists upon in the editor window. Everything is just too W-I-D-E and spread out. I am still experimenting with different fonts that might look better.

But what does "mailboxen aufnehman" (mailbox pickup) actually do?

    Add to mailboxes

..But what *is* that? What "pickup"? Is it the POLL list? I know what the Contacts are.

Look in "Extras/Uplinks" and you should see a new entry in the "Systems" pane. Click the "Properties" button..

Ah.. eureka. I wondered why that was adding new uplinks! So, that's it.

I'd never seen this feature before you mentioned it but..

Yes.. this provides access to multiple "other-nets" Perhaps the German for the
term "mailboxes" has different understanding. For me, a mailbox is something for RECEIVING mail, not POLLing (as in going out).

Many thanks for finding and reporting this. Regards, Martin

Well.. it was a fluke, kind of.

Perhaps one of our native German speaking readers could clarify the meaning of "mailboxen" ;-))

    Hello Martin,

I'm using Courier New, Regular, 11 in the reader and editor.

I just switched to Courier New. That seems to be much better, thanks! The other fancy fonts tried to behave like proportional spacing, but Winpoint was keeping the letters spread appart quite a bit.
