• [Apoint] no more To_me or By_me

From August Abolins@2:221/1.59 to All on Sunday, April 28, 2019 17:56:42
    Hello All!

Apoint has stopped producing copies to my "To_me" and "By_me" Areas. I can find it convenient that Apoint would offer such a feature. I have several messages there from the beginning. But lately, no more messages are getting copied there. :( I don't know what may have changed - if I had anything to with it. Maybe I toggled a setting *somewhere*, but I not sure where anymore.

The only thing I can think of is that either you changed a setting in
those two filter configs or you deleted them both.

I'd hate to have to reinstall the program just to see how the filters were set up originally. :(

    Is that my only option?

I can probably live without the extra copies of the messages. But iit bothers me that a portion of the program is now "broken".

    NoNoNoNoNoooo :)

After installing APoint, I quickly binned the "By_Me" filter and then configured the "To_Me" filter to my liking.

Have a look here for a snapshot of my working "To_Me" filter: https://stargate.org.uk/apoint/support

How does that compare with yours?

Hmm.. Wise to bin By_Me. Who needs copies of one's own stuff posted in echomail. It's just as easy to use the built-in Search.

Hmm.. First of all, I don't put quotes around my name like you do. Then,
I see that you "Selected" NETMAIL, but you ticked "Don't Search". How
does that make sense? Sounds like you do NOT want copies from your
Netmail folder. So, does Apoint then automatically assume you want a
    match from the "Available areas"?

In my case, I did not have any filtering at all. I don't know how it got trashed. Except, maybe I clicked on "L”schen" not realizing what it was?

But the following setting seems to have brought back some hits:

Note that my list of Selected areas as set to [o]Search, but yours is not.

According to the context-sensitive help <g>, a full name or phrase has to be enclosed in quotes.

Then, I see that you "Selected" NETMAIL, but you ticked "Don't
Search". How does that make sense?

Why would I want to search my netmail folder when all my netamil is readily accessible in my netmail folder.

Sounds like you do NOT want copies from your Netmail folder.

    That's correct.

    Yes.

Both our filters achieve a similar thing but it's all down to personal preference how we achieve it :-)

Duh.. I forgot about F1. It seems to answer all my stupid questions.

I did not realize that the filter could be configured to search the UNselected areas. Programmatically, that seemed wrong. To me, something UNselected means "do not touch". I considered the "Available Areas" just a list to pick from, and not active unless moved to the "Selected" column.
