It would appear that the message templates are only applied to echomail messages, none of them are applied to netmail messages.

Yep. If a Reply-in-Netmail were to be triggered from an echo, it would
be nice if there was a header that included the name of the originating echo, for example.
In addition, a predefined signature also does not carry into a direct Reply-in-Netmail. :(
Two more CONs.
Two bad we can't even Reply in the echo (utilizing the templates) and
then change the Area in the header.
Once the reply is started in the echo, it is locked for that Area
(the Area drop-down is grey-out).

..... it's *not* greyed out here :-)
However, there could be a problem when using that method for a *new* netmail: there's a kludge in the message header that shouldn't be
there.
