When the message editor fires up, it's always in a maximized window
which, for me, is far too big. So, I resize the window to suit my taste and compose my message(s). I exit the message editor and sometime later I fire it up again but my previous window settings have not been remembered - it fires up maximized!
Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

YES. Totally annoying (but I guess one *could* get used to it). Meanwhile, try this hack:
[1] - Enter the keyboard combination Alt+Space Bar to open the
system menu. - Type the letter "r" (this will reduce the size
of the window that is apparently defined in the program, but you
will probably want a larger window than that, so..
[2] - Enter the keyboard combination Alt+Space Bar to open the
system menu. - Type the letter ±s± - A double-headed "cross"
pointer will appear. - To make the window larger/smaller, use the left/right and up/down arrow keys to resize the window to your
liking. - Press ±Enter± when done resizing.
With repeated use, we *may* get used to doing [1] and [2] fairly quickly.
Nevertheless, this one is a definite CON for "the List".
Hope this helps!

Maybe, maybe not but the window size is still not remembered.

Yes it does thanks but it's just a different way of doing what I'd
already been doing :)
The blow-up to full screen is not too bad of a problem on my 4:3
14" T60 Thinkpad. It can be a benefit in this case.
What size screen are you working on?

Yeah but in my case it's a definite no-no.
