Greetings All!

In the Windows version of OpenXP, entering HI-ASCII characters in the
message editor is very easily achieved by holding down the <Alt> key, entering the ASCII code of the character with the numeric keypad and
then letting go of the <Alt> key. However, this method doesn't work in
the Linux version of OpenXP and I'm wondering if there's a Linux guru
in here who may be able to offer a solution.

Now, if only the Latvians could have negotiated their way into the
extended ascii region..

That's funny.. I *am* seeing this as the proper "Pts" symbol in my DOS/ Windows version of OXP, so that means Winpoint is sending it back
correctly. But your oxp is changing it. Maybe this is a Linux issue on
your side?

Got an "X" back from your WinPoint editor. BUT.. I recall seeing the correct symbol in past quoted NETMAIL when you were using oxp. Will have
to double-check. Confirmed.. I found an echomail message (generated with oxp/linux) quoted back from you showing the correct symbol, but you said
that it only changes when you lauch the oxp/linux editor.

In fact, there's no Square Root Symbol in my ASCII chart.

Huh? Tick/SquareRoot/Check = Alt-251 => � <-looks ok going out with oxp

You really want the tick symbol to render right! <G> .. After all, oxp
uses that char here and there.

In summary, although oxp/dos supports extended-ascii (alt-128 to alt-254), some of the chars get lost to the linux version of same?

Not a huge matter, but it would be nice to be sure that all the chars in
that range are supported between dos and linux versions.

Does a copy/paste method work from a chart or list in from of you work in Linux?

Sometimes, when I wouldn't get my pc to cooperate with Alt-codes in even
the higher ranges (for the Latvian chars for example), I'd just copy from
an exiting view somewhere and paste it where I needed that char.
