    Hi all my friends!

Best we can tell my last message that got out was Sep 2017.

So, I'm here and have been but sometimes via proxy from ASIAN_LINK and such.

I filed for a GS job and got told 'too many Navy spouses applied' so it was closed to all others. Odd that it locks out disabled vets but that's how it works. They contacted back because none of them were qualified so I got a shot and killed the interview in November. Hire date was 18 December 2017. Not sure when Ruth's trip here was but it was when I wasn't tracking cell phone messages and missed them.

So all is well. My old car finally died ad I got my first new one in Feb2018. A Nissan Rouge but not every fancy feature.

Grocery stores here have expanded. We have Whole Foods, TJ's, Aldis and Lidl in comparison to the normal Harric Teeters, Food lion, Kroger and such. WE have ethnic makets bigger than a WalMart. MLoo would drool extremo!

Charlotte has flown on her own on several cooking types. Not at all suprisingly, Udon based soups with miso. I wonder what Neysa woud make of them?

All seems well. My Mom is under state care and sadly, has not gotten better at getting along with the 3 kids but that was not expected. Nuff said on a paiful subject.

So I'm tracking on the picnic but not promises. I can't tell how close it is to an aiport yet.

Yup I saw you a time or two there... ;)

Congratulations... good thing for you that none of the Navy spouses were qualified... I agree it does seem odd that disabled vets wouldn't have
been also a priority for hiring... So, I take it you like this job...?

So all is well. My old car finally died ad I got my first new one in Feb2018. A Nissan Rouge but not every fancy feature.

As long as it's good reliable transportation, that's what counts the
    most... ;)

I like your ethnic markets... have they expanded as well...?

    That sounds good... :)

That's the problem with inflexible systems; no discretion allowed.

They're pretty nice. And brand new is always a rush.

    Grocery stores here have expanded.

I gotta tell you that of all the Southern chains, Piggly Wiggly has
the goofiest name of all. How do people go there and keep a
    straight face?

If you're still making ABM bread ... my latest experiment was a loaf
of rye, cornmeal and molasses bread and it turned out great. The
proportions were: 2 c all purpose white flour 1 c rye dark flour 1 c
yellow corn meal, 2 tb each corn syrup and molasses, water, salt,
yeast. There was enough white flour to get a good rise and enough
rye for the taste to come through. The corn made the loaf gritty in
a good way and the loaf was moist and ever so slightly sweet.

    Cheers

    Jim

Odd but i kinda get it on the Navy Spouse, but it should not over-ride disabled Vet (50% or above) but it does. The idea is support them as they have to move ll the time, but it wasn't designed to block the jobs from GS11 and up unless the resume showed skill level equal to the job.

It's the only one that blocks other applicants (spouse).

Yup! I felt bad a little today as a really qualified person had applied initially to but apparently hadn't seen the second announcement so I got it. He works 2 doors down from me in a different job.

First and only 'brand new' for me.

If you're still making ABM bread ... my latest experiment was a loaf

Oh definately I am still making bread! With that mix, you may find you like replacing the cornmeal with Spelt for a different but really good flavor.

I have to move my mail MM database over to this machine but have at least one recipe for today, all brand spanking new!

True, it does make sense to cater some to Navy spouses... but also to
cater to the disabled vets... In any case, it was good you got the
job... :) Are you enjoying it...?

I like your ethnic markets... have they expanded as well...?

    Just more of them.

Are the new ones as good as the older ones...? Do they offer different choices, or is it pretty much all the same...

Seems close if i tracked the right messages?

Yup... I live very close to the Rochester airport, and my sister's
house is about 25 miles away, takes me usually about 40 minutes to get
there... Newark is a little farther out, but the plans for now are to
have the picnic itself at my sister's, and Fords should be able to get
    there ok too...
