care much about it. Vegetables are the nicest-
looking raw ingredients, but how misleading is
that? Okay, fruits look okay by and large, but
then some of the tastiest fruit - persimmons,
durian, lychee, and so on, are pretty darn ugly.

I have an LED rig in the kitchen that's bright enough for

anything.

In fact my music stand lamp has 10 LEDs and is
bright enough for anyone - except me.

That sounds like more than I'd use. Then again I still have good
night vision.

I need all ten of them and then some.

The massively energy-effiient appliances have mixed
benefits, though, viz. megabass auto sound systems.

I like them when they work better than the old ones.

Your guy cruising around in a hot rod equipped
with such a sound system would likely have a
different notion of better than we would.

I don't recall having met a Dewey or a Cheatham but did
know a Howe or two.

Pepper and Lobster Mushroom Sandwich with Pecan Pesto
categories: seafood, vegan, main
yield: 2

2 lg bell peppers
1 basket lobster mushrooms
oil
1/2 c pecans
1 c basil, packed loosely
1/4 c olive oil
salt to taste
4 sl bread of your choice

Preheat oven to 425F. Chop peppers roughly and
spray them and mushrooms with cooking oil of
your choice. Place on a lined baking sheet and
roast for 20 min.

Meanwhile, pulse the basil and pecans in a food
processor until finely chopped. Slowly add the
olive oil in a thin stream as the food processor
runs until everything is incorporated. Add salt
to taste.

Toast four pieces of bread, spread some pesto on
each, and divide the mushrooms and peppers to
make two sandwiches. Serve with a refreshing
local Vidal Blanc.
