It is a GE.... and I'm sure you are right about that... :)
Yeah, I thought. One of those once-fashionable
    pushbutton controls, too.
Yup.... and those are still working fine, too... when we first were
here, we thought the pushbuttons the most likely to go bad on us... but
it's been the oven elements that we've had replace, instead... :)

Thinking about it, is there any reason why the
buttons would wear out any quicker than a rheostat?

Possible, I suppose.... I know you keep getting the secondary at the airport...
My travel patterns being atypical, I get atypical treatment.
One good thing about traveling with Lilli is that when
we're together, they more often catch her. I guess the
theory is that she's the obvious innocent, and if I
wanted to board anything troublesome, it'd be via her.
I guess I can see that theory... Still just a waste of their efforts...

Like when I was traveling with a friend and her
quite elderly parents. On the border into Canada
the mother, the only Canadian citizen of the lot,
was given the suitcase dump search, undoubtedly
on the theory that if we wanted to wreak havoc
among the Nova Scotians, we'd do it through her.

It's very expensive when served in recognizable
chunks, probably owing to supposed medicinal
properties (the Chinese are very big on
medicinal properties, but it's all a load of
abalone) and being a bringer of good luck.
That explains a bit... never quite thought that the abalone dumplings
were all that much different from anything else at Canton House... probably just too chopped up to be recognizeable... :)
They taste okay, but the mythology is the main thing.
I'll try to remember for next time to get the abalone dumplings for good
    luck then... :)

If you're willing to pay an extra couple bucks for
something that doesn't actually taste any better.

I was guessing it had to do with your relatives
    but wasn't sure which.
I knew you'd met Bonnie at the picnic... thought you'd also met Ana at some point, as she comes to church with her kids... :)
Probably did but with limited interaction.
    Probably..

That's the way most glancing acquaintances are.

difference is mostly in the upgrades: so long as
she keeps Executive Platinum, she gets the one seat
held for last-minute sale if nobody buys full-fare
first. Her quest is either highly practical or
totally nuts, depending on what your criteria are.
Indeed.... I see both sides of that... ;)
    And cuts both ways.
    True. :)

It is certainly inconvenient for our travels, though
solving the problem can be a kind of amusing pastime.

It's not as though we interact much on the plane even
when we're on the same flight, even next to each
other. The main things I miss are getting a meal and
half (mine and part of hers), getting to waltz into
her club (or getting her into mine) before and
sometimes after a trip; and playing her phone games,
    particularly Wordament and WordConnect.
Another trip, you might have the same itinerary... there are some
benefits to that, too, after all... :)

Happens less frequently these days, for various
reasons. It's lucky we end up in the same city
at more or less the same time.

... Hint for Mom: Kids don't really prefer hot dogs to duck a l'orange.

It would be nice if that were true, but it's really
    unlikely.

    ---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.01

    Title: Duck a L'orange
    Categories: Poultry, simplified
    Yield: 6 servings

    2 Ducks 1/2 ts Salt
6 oz Frozen orange juice thawed u 1 c Water
    3/4 ts Mustard

Directions: Wipe ducks dry inside and out, season with salt and pepper,
    and
place in roasting pan close together, breast sides up. Cover with strips
    of
bacon. Roast at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until done to taste.
Meanwhile, heat to boiling in small saucepan the orange juice, garlic,
mustard, ginger and salt. Remove from heat and during the last 10 minutes
of roasting, remove bacon from birds and brush them with the mixture. Mix
cornstarch with 1/4 cup of the water and add to remaining orange sauce.
Pour in remaining water and stir over low heat until sauce thickens.
    Place
ducks on heated platter, slice and serve with the orange sauce.

Perhaps not.... I was just thinking that mechanical might be more likely
to have issues than the electrical....

Possible, I suppose.... I know you keep getting the secondary at the airport...

Hopefully I'll not hae any issues at the border either direction when I
go to Montreal to pick up the kid at the airport later this week...

And manage to make connections, as well.... ;)

Some kids might prefer the hotdogs, but I've known plenty of kids that
had been exposed to all sorts of more exotic fare and were quite happy
    to explore more.... :)
