    Rob Roy
    4 cl whisky
    2 cl dry vermouth
    2 cl sweet vermouth
    2 ds Angostura
A Rob Roy is a Manhattan made with Scotch instead of rye or bourbon.
Like the Manhattan, it can be made sweet, dry or "perfect" like your
    version above.

I had a doctor who drank only Rob Roys. He claimed that
plain water rusts your pipes, so one shouldn't partake.
An odd duck, but interesting to talk to. He was kind of
jealous of me and put the moves on my girlfriend; when
she turned him down, he ordered my first ever GI series.
I didn't know about the former event until much later.

    Tamarind Duck
    cat: poultry, main
    serves: 2 to 4

    5 lb duck
    1/2 c flour
    1/2 ts garlic powder
    1 c oil
1 ts shredded ginger root (optional)
    1/4 c Satay's Pad Thai Sauce [a sweet-sour sauce I think]
1/2 Tb corn starch - mixed with
    1/4 c water
    2 Tb shredded scallion
    green salad for garnish

Prepare duck for cooking: trim excess fat, rinse, dry, sprinkle
with salt, cut into serving pieces.

Toss the duck chunks in a mixture of flour and garlic. Fry the duck
chunks in oil at medium heat until golden brown. Check and make sure
the duck is cooked. (if not, microwave up to 4 min on High until done).
Arrange over green salad on a platter.

Put a small amount of the fried oil in a sauce pan. Heat and stir
in the ginger root. Turn the heat to low, add the Pad Thai Sauce,
thickening it with the corn starch. Stir well and pour over the
cooked duck. Garnish with scallions and serve with steamed rice.
