An Omaha Steak competitor, I guess....
For the more dollars than sense clientele.
We once got a Christmas gift of a groupon from a close friend for live lobster from Maine. I believe it cost her $60 and claimed to be a $100 value. When we looked it up on the web, we found out that that would
entitle us to about 4 pounds of lobster, but shipping would be an
additional $40. In searching further we discovered other companies who offered about the same amount of lobster for less than $50 with free shipping. I.E. the groupon coupon was a *BIG* scam. We never said
anyting about it, but our reaction at the time was to compare it to the
    Omaha beef rip-off.

I wonder if there were any added value at all
(of course there wouldn't be enough to fully
justify the markup) - expedited shipping,
sturdy coolers, a cookbook, what have you.

These days, when we feel like having a lobster dinner, we get a 3 pound lobster from Wegmans and have them steam it for us. Still hot by the
time we get it home. Cost $35 to $40. A single 3 pound lobster has a
lot more meat than a pair of 1 1/2 pound bugs.

Lobster and crab boils come my way more often
than I have a hankering for them.

Title: Spicy Eggplant Salad (Bonjan) From Afghanistan
    Categories: Indian, Afghan, Salads

More Afghan than Indian. Not favoring eggplant
with sweet herbs and spices, I'd substitute cumin,
turmeric, fenugreek, and maybe other things for
    the mint and cinnamon.

    Stuffed eggplant In abalone sauce
    categories: Singaporean, fish, main
    yield: 1

    1 eggplant
    h - (A)
    20 g salted fish
    200 g minced meat
    2 in ginger, juice of
    1/2 ts sugar
    1 ts soy sauce
    2 ts oyster sauce
    1/2 ts sesame oil
    1/2 ts rice wine
    h - (B)
    200 g fish paste
    1 ds white pepper
    h - Sauce
    1 Tb abalone sauce
sugar and white pepper to taste
    water
    1 ts cornflour mixed with
    2 ts water
    chopped spring onion
    oil for cooking

Slice eggplant thickly and slit slices most of the
    way through for filling.

Pan-fry the salted fish with 1 Tb oil; remove with
a slotted spoon and brown the minced meat (pork or
beef or chicken) in the remaining oil.

Mix all (A) ingredients in a bowl. Stir with a pair of
chopsticks in one direction until the mixture is gluey.

Stir in (B), continue to stir in one direction until
    well combined.

Stuff the eggplant with minced meat mixture.

Heat oil in a skillet, pan fry the eggplant until the
sides are lightly brown. Add abalone sauce, sugar, and
white pepper along with water to 3/4 cover the eggplant.
Simmer until the eggplant and meat are fully cooked.
Stir in corn starch mixture. When the sauce thickens,
turn off heat, garnish with some chopped spring onion
    and serve warm with rice.
