From JIM WELLER@1:123/140 to DALE SHIPP on Saturday, May 11, 2019 21:08:00

Quoting Dale Shipp to Dave Drum <=-

his cell phone got 17 calls from "Dale Shipp".
I have gotten calls on my home phone from "Dale Shipp" and even
displaying my actual phone number, but only once or twice.

It appears that our CRTC has more clout than your FCC. That kind of
activity is very rare here cause those guys get shut down very
quickly. I have never had a robocall or a spam call on my cell
phone and I get far fewer on my land line since the last batch of
legislatation went though. Because so many people pay for their cell
service by the minute on incoming as well as outgoing calls not even politicians and charities are allowed to bulk call cell numbers
which are easily identified here by the first 3 digits of the 7
    digit number.

    Cheers

    Jim

That is as it should be. We have a "do not call" list and only those
with whom we have a relationship should be allowed to call us. But I do
still get a lot of spam calls every day. Fortunately, Verizon allows me
to block phone numbers, and I do so for those that are repeat offenders.
Our home phone system also has a blocking system that we use.

One problem is that many (most?) of the spam callers are either offshore phones, or are spoofing other numbers -- and they are pretty agile.

back to a simmer. Add salt, sugar & tamarind. Stir until the
tamarind has dissolved & then remove from the heat.

Heat oil in a small skillet over low heat. Fry the mustard seeds for

Simmer for a further 2 or 3 minutes. Stir in the 5-spice powder.
Cover & let stand for a few moments to develop the flavour. Garnish
    with cilantro & lemon wedges.

*Replace with tamarind puree. Use 6 to 8 tb of the puree.

Steve put an app on my phone (We only have cell phones.) called "Should
I Answer?". It lets calls ring thru if the number is in your contacts
list. If not, it will just sound a tone to let you know there's been a
call. The app has a rating system and if a number has been flagged by
someone as a telemarketer, it will be ID'ed as such. Other calls, from
numbers not in my contacts list, I'll check for a voice mail on the
phone. If no voice mail (or a 3 or 4 second one), I'll delete it as junk
or spam. A legit call will leave a voice mail, usually with a transcript available. The app, however, has saved a lot of frustration. (G)

Quite so; I don't think I've gotten my own number but some have been
    pretty close to it.

Looks good but I'd omit the cilantro garnish. (G)
