I'd have to talk with the one who cooks for the last Sunday of

others in the group, see if there's an interest in a change of
plans for that week.
When time gets closer, right now I'm working on a June trade out.

Yes, and looks iffy for a trade out now but have to check back next

time. No problem for us to do so, especially with a couple week's

We didn't even try. Went to a Mexican place instead. They're not quite

summer squash, mushrooms, onions, tomato, bell pepper, and broccoli
over rice and a cheese sauce over that. We both took about half of our meals home, stopped at a Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream on the way.

brother is now 3. Seems like just yesterday he was born. Some
families you may not see or get to to talk with for a while, then
when you see them, the kids have all grown at least 6 inches.
When it comes to the teenagers, that can happen from week to week!
It still can come as a surprise how quickly the time passes....
I know, kids that weren't even in school when we came to the church
are now in high school. Then too, our oldest grandson has his learner's permit--we were there when he was born.
Our intern has been worshiping with us for a little while before
we could hire him as an intern... when they first came, there were
just two kids, and soon after they had their third.... this year,
they had their fourth, and already he's starting to look like a
little person... :)
They grow up all too fast. The baby that one of the church families
had in December is now 6 months old.
Indeed... one of the strengths of the picnics... a chance for
all to try something new and only one having to lay out for
it... especially when it turns out to be not so wonderful
after all... :) And when it is wonderful, then we know we
should spend the pesos... ;)
All in the interest of good food. We brought a bag of pulled
pork to Steve's folks for tonight's supper. Mom made potato salad
and I did my maternal grandmother's green beans (with bacon and
vinegar). A bit of sliced cucumber and tomatoes, apple pie for
dessert and good eating all around.
Sounds quite tasty.... :)
It was; we took the last of the pie back to the camper for breakfast.
(G)
Now you know... :)
We didn't have the time to do the others in the egg and still
eat at a reasonable hour. Next time we have the same situation
tho, Steve will cook them on something else.
Ah... You might almost have done better just doing them inside,
for a quick cooking... :)
True, but we wanted to grill it--kept the house cooler as it was
one of those too early in the season hot days. So, we just ate a
bit of charcoal. (G)
Ah, well.... ;)
Just a part of life. (G)

In the days of arranged marriages you either learned to love or hate
your spouse. Presumably more spouses learned to love, rather than
hate, tho it may have taken 25 years before they realised it.

In the days of arranged marriages you either learned to love or hate
your spouse. Presumably more spouses learned to love, rather than
hate, tho it may have taken 25 years before they realised it.
Considering that most of love is the commitment and the working out thereof, and less of the emotional, no wonder that the parents of the couple would tell them that they'd "learn to love each other" as Tevye says... perhaps not as exciting a prospect, but it's what the "love-matches" need for the marriage to last and stay firm just as
much... :)
Got some more cherries but I think Steve is going to try

A worthy experiment... has he done that before with the

No, but we've got the resources to tell him how to do it and
they dried nicely. I could (almost) eat them like candy.
Probably just a little bit healthier for you than candy, at

We knew one family wasn't going to be there, found out 2 more
people couldn't make it at the last minute. We were able to
adjust the cooking so as not to have a lot of "use right away"
left overs--extra beans into the pantry, greens into salad,
tortillas into the freezer, etc. Nice flexible meal. (G)
That worked out nicely, then... :)
Quite so, things that you can adapt on the fly are always good. We
should have the full group next time we cook--just have to figure out

on the grill again.
Sounds good.... :)

with
possibly nearby restaurants where we could hold a celebratory meal...

time together rather than the always madhouse that a one-day Christmas get-together always is... :) And another opportunity for the next generation cousins to play together and get to know each other... ;)
And now we are into the NEXT generation cousins... ;) And Mommy and Daddy are both gone...

So many things--trying to remember all we had talked about. I'd say we
did a pretty good job of tasting. (G)
The Turkish Delight was an unexpected taste that Steve threw in
after our trip to the Petra Market.
Yup... you'll be looking for just the right fabric/whatever for
some project or other, and have to go searching.... Or happen
to be in the near vicinity of some shop you haven't checked out
yet, and decide no time like the present... ;)
It has been known to happen..................more than once. (G)
Not at all surprised... (G)
I've found some nice surprises in the shops too.
No surprise there, either... (G) That's one of the joys of
shopping places like that... :)
Very much so. Turned my Pfaff in yesterday for a cleaning/tune up but didn't find anything in a quick look thru the store. Maybe when we go
to pick it up..........(G)

Indeed... my list of tastings and foods made for the picnic is more
than 40 items on it... :) And some of them are categories, like the assortment of chips the Shipps brought... or Michael's assortment of
dark chocolate bars.... :)

Yup, as was the pistachio Halva that Michael picked up there as
well... and the Elderberry Ginger Pecan jam made in NC that I found at Publix when we did the shopping... :)

True, right now I'm not doing a lot of sewing but hope to get back to
it next week. Things have just been "one thing after another" since the week of the picnic. I did finish the alteration job tho.

Good on finishing the alteration job... I'm sure she was glad to have
it done... ;) And I certainly understand the "one thing after

part... this whole month has flown by, what with the two trips to the
Pond that took up much of the month for me.... I think I'm about 10

Sometimes when I'm that far behind I'll drop everything for a couple
of hours and work on Fido. I'm usually running loads of lanudry at the same time so it's not like I'm not doing anything but if everything
else has the same priority level, I can take some time to work on
catching up on Fido. I usually have easy meals planned for the first
few days we're home after a long trip anyway.
With the computer upstairs, it's hard to be doing anything else at the same time here.... So I just have to try to carve out time for sitting
and doing the Fido... I got a few messages done this morning, and now maybe a couple more before I need to do the bbs run.... Maybe
tomorrow... I have, though, brought the backlog up to only 4 or 5
days, by having had some good blocks of time the last few days... :)

We're thinking of western NY again next year? As of now, later summer/early fall would work best for us.

I usually curl up in my chair to do Fido--easy to get to other areas
of the house that need attention. I'm just steps away from other rooms, kitchen being the closest. Until we moved to WF, I did all of my
computer work on a desk top set up. We didn't have the room, either in
the rental, or this house, for 2 desk top set ups so I opted to go
with the net book/lap top for most all of my work. I've had to use the desk top set up from time to time but prefer the portability of the way
I use the set up now. It's also easier to travel with. (G)

Not likely to ever happen... he's not willing to be away for more than
an overnight at a time, and definitely not willing to be away on a Sunday... But he will participate in a picnic closer to home, as you know... ;)

most of mine, and all of the ones he handles, are done with paper
checks, although I do pay some of mine by phone...
